tuesday night i went to some party thrown by Pandora where you can do karaoke with a LIVE rock band. free cocktails and hors d'hoeuvres? i'm so there. however, i had no intentions of actually participating in the karaoke part of the event.
well a couple beers and a blue drink served in a martini glass later, i was totally on stage singing Modern English's "I Melt with You". and i'm almost positive the blue drink in the martini glass was 98% tequila (1% mixer, 1% blue food coloring).
when we got off the stage, some guy (who turned out to be the founder of Pandora himself) told us we rocked and "that's what Pandora's all about!!" he was probably saying that to everyone who came off stage but a small part of me likes to believe it was mainly because cristin and i are just that fucking rad.
anyhow, the event was really fun. singing with a live band is kind of awesome because you can't hear how bad you sound and you have the rest of the band singing backup vocals. you really get the full effect. and those people who get really into it and start rocking out like they're giong to get discovered (you know who you are) only look half as retarded as when they're doing normal karaoke.
if you're in the NY area and you're bored on a Monday night, i would definitely recommend getting drunk and pretending you're a rockstar at Arlene's Grocery.
and let's give some love to Pandora for being super awesome. go there and listen to music. it's fun.
